Housebreaking & Crate Training Program

Our unique housebreaking and crate training program gets puppies off to the right start.  Those first weeks are crucial in establishing good lifelong habits. We also work with older dogs with housebreaking issues. It’s perfect for dog owners who must be away from home due to long work days, for first time dog owners who need guidance or owners wishing to make the training go faster and easier. 

Puppies are dropped off at our training center in the morning.  A schedule is established to teach the dogs correct potty habits. Puppies are picked up in the late afternoon and sent home with a schedule to follow that evening.  Training is continued the next day when the puppies are dropped off again.  This is a five day program. 

We also work with dogs who have crate issues, teaching them that their crate is a good and safe place to be.  Older dogs as well as puppies can benefit from this training.

Board & Train Training

Dog not listening to you?  Work or kids’ schedules not allowing you to attend obedience classes?  Going on vacation and have to board your dog anyways? Then our Board and Train or Drop-off Training programs are for you. 

Our Board and Train program is a two week program. Before your dog arrives for its stay, we will discuss your goals for training. We always train the basic obedience exercises - sit, down, stay, come and walking on a loose leash.  If your dog jumps up on people, furniture and countertops, barks or chews, we can deal specifically with those behaviors and more. For those, we teach commands like leave it, off, no bite and quiet.

At the end of your dog’s stay, we’ll meet with you to demonstrate what your dog has learned and teach you how to continue to improve the exercises and behavior.  A follow-up consult can be scheduled to make sure everything is going well after you've had them home for a couple of weeks.  These consults are included in the training price.

The dogs stay at American Boarding Kennel, located in our building, and are brought to our training center during the day. Your dog will be housed in deluxe accommodations for their two week stay.

Drop-off Training is a less expensive option to have your dog trained.  It is also a two week program.  Again, we discuss your goals with you before your dog arrives the first day.

With this program, you drop off your dog in the morning, Monday through Friday, and we work with him several times during the day.  When you pick him up in the late afternoon, we send “homework” with you to help continue the training that evening. Then, he is back at Tails Up the next day, ready to continue learning.  With this program, you learn right along with your dog.
