basic manners fasttrack

4 week semi-private class

Basic Manners FastTrack is an accelerated semi-private class that is limited to only 5 students, so it will offer even more time for personal instruction than a traditional group obedience class. Basic Manners FastTrack also includes weekly emails with written material & videos  to aid your practice at home. Basic skills include: Sit, Down, basic Come, Place, Loose Leash skills, keeping four feet on the floor, and staying quiet when asked. We also discuss important ownership issues like housetraining, crate training, maintaining a healthy weight, trimming toe nails, appropriate exercise, and car safety. beginning obedience

8 week group class

$185

For dogs 5 months or older

Our Beginning Obedience class is a great class to start with, or to continue your dog's training after Puppy Kindergarten or Basic Manners FastTrack. Our group class situation is limited to 10-12 students and provides essential socialization and exposure to new people and dogs. Beginning Obedience also includes weekly emails with written material & videos  to aid your practice at home. We work to teach and develop a reliable response to basic obedience commands like Sit, Down, Stay with advanced distractions, formal Come, and detailed Heel on a loose leash. We also help you teach your dog how to keep four feet on the floor, and stay quiet when asked. The group class situation is helpful for practicing reliable responses in a  public environment. We also discuss important ownership issues like housetraining, crate training, maintaining a healthy weight, trimming toe nails, appropriate exercise, and car safety. We are here to help you mold your dog into a wonderful family companion.

NOTE: This is not a class for dogs with aggression issues. If your dog continually barks or lunges at other dogs, please contact us prior to signing up online. We may require a private session prior to attending a group class. We are here to help you and your dog succeed, and keep group classes safe for all attendees.

intermediate obedience

8 week group class

$185

For dogs with prerequisite training

Prerequisite: Requires completion of a Tails Up Beginning Obedience class or prior Tails Up approval for transfer from another program.

Our Intermediate Obedience class further refines the skills taught in Beginning Obedience, working to make your dog increasingly reliable despite higher levels of distraction. We increase the challenge of the Come command by adding distance and more distractions, in addition to teaching your dog to Come over a low jump. We challenge the Heel command by teaching the dog to focus while  heeling very closely to other people and dogs in the Figure 8 exercise. We practice more reliability for the Stay command by adding time, distance, and more distractions.
